Finished

I've finally finished my script for my contribution to Accent UK's Zombies 2 (2ombies) Anthology. I've sent it off to Dave and a few other friends to look at before I sit down with Dan and figure out the art.

As an aspiring writer, I'm always a bit nervous to send off a script and get feedback. I need the feedback, of course--how else would I better my writing? The thing I'm always scared of is, "HA! You think I could publish this sh*&?!? Write a better one or we'll find someone else." It hasn't happened yet, but it's always in the back of my mind.

Fingers crossed.

Massive Zombie fan here, so colour me intrigued by this anthology.

Also a fan of the work that Accent UK produce, especially Strange Times.

I've noticed an influx in Zombie literature ever since Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, and not all of it good...infact, most of it is terrible, but the comics (especially short stories) always tend to be far superior than extended works of fiction.

When I have the cash, I'll pick up a copy and let you know what I think ^_^

How did you get yourself a writing position with Accent UK...I'd love to get some of my ideas turned into comics, but I have no idea where to start.

ZM, first off, I love your blog. You do a fantastic job.

To clarify, I'm not really a writer for Accent UK. I'm part of a podcast/press crew called Tales from the Parents' Basement. I was just lucky enough to meet up with the Accent UK fellows at a comic convention in Seattle last March and invited to contribute to the second Zombies Anthology.

As far as getting something published, I'd say go to a small convention somewhere close and start talking with publishers/creators. Somewhere like San Diego is probably waaaaaay too large and hectic to be able to have some quality time with anyone. Emerald City in Seattle was perfect for us.

Also, almost all publishers from DC to Darkhorse have submission guidelines listed on their site. Check them out and submit something to them. It will probably take quite a while to hear back from them, but you will hear something eventually. Submit as many pitches as possible and see what happens.

If all else fails, you can always publish your own comic. There are tons of web comics out there now and that seems to be a cheap way to get your work noticed.

Like I said, I'm really just a hack and aspiring writer...this is all stuff that I've learned on my own through researching this stuff.

Good luck and I hope this helped.

Thanks for the response :)

Also, thanks for the feedback for my blog, always nice to know that people like it.

I'll have to keep an eye out for smaller comic conventions around my area. I remember Bristol used to hold a smaller version of Comic Con, so I'll look around for similar events in the future.

Cheers for the help, and keep up the good work yourself. I look forward to reading more of your blog.
